Tuesday 5/16 CTA

Tuesday.
WTF Trump?!  WTF silent elected officials?!  I am not sure which of you is worse.

1.  Trump's Loose Lips
I am sure you all already know about how Trump met with Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov and ambassador Sergey Kislyak in the Oval Office on May 10th (the day after firing James Comey).  In addition to letting Russian photographers take pictures, he also decided to reveal highly classified information to the Russians as a way to brag up how much he knows.  The sensitive information had to do with an Islamic State terror threat and was obtained by another country.  Trump did not have permission to share the information.

Trump ran his presidential campaign and much of his presidency so far as the man who would stop ISIS.  One could argue that his actions on May 10th did more to help ISIS than any terrorist group.  So where is the outrage from all the ISIS haters?  How are they turning a blind eye to this?  Where are the masses who want to build a wall to keep America safe?  Trump just did his part to put you in danger.

Check out Slate's interview with professor Daniel Drezner.  It will provide you with some interesting talking points when you make your calls.  http://www.slate.com/articles/news_and_politics/interrogation/2017/05/the_foreign_policy_implications_of_trump_s_big_mouth.html

Here's where you need to get active.  The time for normal politics is over.  Our elected officials need to stop this nonsense now.  If you are driving on the highway and your tire blows, you don't just say you are "disturbed by the current events" and keep driving.  You stop your car and you change your tire before you can get going again.  Today, we need to demand that our senators and representative stop doing their job until this problem is fixed.

Check out this article from  Preet Bharara.  https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/preet-bharara-are-there-still-public-servants-who-will-say-no-to-the-president/2017/05/14/8df915de-38d6-11e7-9e48-c4f199710b69_story.html?tid=ss_tw&utm_term=.fa8457c5852d
Here is what the American people deserve:
1.  A truly bipartisan investigation in Congress
2.  An apolitical FBI director
3.  An independent and uncompromised special counsel to oversee the Russia investigation

Until this happens, nothing else should get done in the Senate.  The Democrats may be the minority but they are not without power.  This article outlines the ways  our senators can slow down the Senate.  https://www.washingtonpost.com/posteverything/wp/2017/05/12/senate-democrats-can-stop-trumps-russia-scandal-from-becoming-the-new-normal/?tid=ss_tw&utm_term=.c753cc8de371

Your call to action today is to contact Sens. Franken and Klobuchar and demand they do just that.  Then call your representative and ask them what they are going to do about Trump's breach of trust.  This garbage needs to end now.
