Tuesday 11/14 Call to Action

Tuesday
I bet you can guess what I am going to say.
1. HR 1 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act
Are you sick of it? Because I am sick of it. But we have to keep calling. This bill is as important as the healthcare bill but it just doesn’t garner the same wave of resistance. Our Republican members of Congress (MoC) are busy spreading misinformation about the tax bill but they consistently fail to provide real data to back up their claims. It is up to us to set the record straight.
Here is an easy to read piece from the Washington Post that gives you some talking points to refute some of the biggest lies Republican have been telling.https://www.washingtonpost.com/…/f6fbd1ae-c8b7-11e7-b0cf-76…
Need a script to call? Here is one from 5 Calls. Plug in your zip code and it will even give you MoC contact information. https://5calls.org/issue/tax-cuts-job-act Feeling shy? Just text your thoughts via Resitbot https://resistbot.io/and/or Twitter.
2. Protect Alaska’s Wildlife Refuge
On Wednesday, the Senate will be debating whether or not to allow the Secretary of Interior (Ryan Zinke) to lease parts of Alaska’s wildlife refuge for oil and gas production. As Zinke said, “Alaska is open for business.” The Trump administration’s goal is to dominate the globe in fossil fuel production, but the price of this production is high. The wildlife refuge is one of the few truly wild places left on Earth. Once it is disturbed, there is no going back.

While you are at it,
National Parks System
Don’t forget, Secretary Ryan Zinke wants to cut the size and funding of our National Parks. You have until November 23rd to leave him a comment.

3. Secretary of Health & Human Services
Yesterday, Trump announced that he was nominating Alex Azar to replace Tom Price as Secretary of Health and Human Services. Azar background includes working at Eli Lilly, a pharmaceutical corporation, and some time at the Health and Human Services Department under G. W. Bush. Is it a good idea to let someone with pharmaceutical ties run HHS? Read up here and decide for yourself.
