Wednesday 7/24 CTA

Wednesday July 24
Lots of things are happening today. What else is new.
Robert Mueller to Testify
Former Special Counsel Robert Mueller is testifying before the House Judiciary and Intelligence Committees today. I am not getting my hopes up about it, but at least the public should get a review of what’s in the report since most people (including FBI Director, Christopher Wray!!https://www.politico.com/…/fbi-christopher-wray-mueller-rep… ) have not read it.
Watch it live here: https://www.cpr.org/20…/…/24/video-robert-mueller-testimony/
Former Senator Al Franken has provided a list of questions he would ask Mueller. https://alfranken.com/read/what-id-ask-mueller
What the heck, United Kingdom?
Pro-Brexit Boris Johnson will become Britain’s next prime minister. He is the UK’s version of Trump and I am sure a lot of people are experiencing the same pit in their stomachs that we did in November 2016. https://www.theguardian.com/…/meet-the-new-dude-at-no-10-pa…
Trump’s Expedited Removal
The Trump administration has created a new rule that would allow ICE officers to approach anyone in the United States and demand proof of citizenship or at least two years of residency. If they can’t, they will be deported without a trial or hearing.
The change dramatically expands the ability of the Department of Homeland Security to quickly deport certain immigrants without any of the due-process protections granted to most other people, including the right to an attorney and to a hearing before a judge.

If you don’t think this will really happen, it already has. An 18 year-old U.S. citizen was detained for nearly a month despite having documentation showing his citizenship. https://www.washingtonpost.com/…/francisco-erwin-galicia-…/…
Trump to Weaken SNAP
The Trump administration wants to change the way states determine who qualifies for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, benefits, also known as food stamps. The U.S. Department of Agriculture estimates that 3 million people would lose their food assistance as a result.
The administration says it wants to close what it calls a "loophole" that allows states to give benefits to those who would not otherwise be eligible by raising or eliminating income and asset limits.
