Monday 6/11 Call to Action

A lot happened since Friday.  Mueller filed more charges.  Trump called for Russia to join the G7 while mocking allies.

1. Congress has power over trade.  It's not clear what route Trump will take -- he's proposed both increasing and eliminating tariffs, but his alienation of American allies is alarming.  He's working against the longstanding Western World order.  I'm going to call today to ask what specifically our representatives and senators can do to call for investigations of why Trump is behaving the way he is toward allies, and to ask them to support Bob Corker's law requiring "Congressional Approval of National Security-Designated Tariffs."

This bill is S. 3013.

2. Trump is planning to meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un Tuesday.  Despite his inexperience, Trump appears to be meeting with Kim with only translators.

3 We're ramping up for the midterms.  Check out this in Saint Paul, or there are plenty of events around the state.

4. There are a number of alarming stories about the treatment of immigrant children.  Keep your eyes on this.

“Aleman-Bendiks, the public defender, said several of her clients have told her their children were taken from them by Border Patrol agents who said they were going to give them a bath. As the hours passed, it dawned on the mothers the kids were not coming back. ‘It’s incredible,” she said. “I just can’t believe what’s happening here.'”
