Friday 6/16 Call to Action

Friday
I am thankful it’s Friday! You know what else I am thankful for? The fantastic group of people in The Power of Many. Every day I am heartened by how smart, articulate, and funny you are. I am so impressed with your grasp of the political situation at hand. You give me hope that we are not spiraling down into the abyss of Idiocracy (Have you ever seen that movie? It used to be funny now it’s a cautionary talehttp://www.imdb.com/title/tt0387808/) Virtual high fives to all of you!
Speaking of great ideas, the first call to action comes from a TPOM smartie.
 1. Switch to Wind Energy
One of the many things this past six months has shown is that we can vote with our pocket books. If Trump refuses lead us in a fight against climate change we can take the reigns and do it ourselves. Switching to wind energy is an easy step you can take from the comfort of your own home.

2. The Fight Against AHCA
It’s been a week of calls about the AHCA. I know I sound like a broken record but the decisions the senators make over the next weeks will affect all of us. Even if you have employee health coverage, the re-institution of annual and lifetime caps could devastate those who need insurance the most.
http://time.com/…/the-senate-health-care-bill-could-hurt-y…/
Because we have (fantastic) senators who do not support the AHCA our approach to resistance is different. The Democrats may be the minority in the Senate but there is still plenty they can do to protect Americans from this terrible bill.
Check out this Twitter thread from Ezra Levin that outlines the “vote-a-rama” approach to stopping the AHCA.

This technique is unorthodox but necessary. Andy Slavitt believes that Mitch McConnell may be planning to voting on the AHCA with little or no debate on the floor. How can he do that? Find out here:https://twitter.com/ASlavitt/status/875452710316912640
Let’s call Senators Franken and Klobuchar again today and share the “vote-a-rama” idea with them.
It’s Friday so let’s keep this short and sweet. Have a great weekend!
