1. Financial Choice Act (HR 10)
This bill is packaged as Wall Street reform and financial accountability. What’s inside, however, threatens many consumer safeguards that were enacted shortly after the financial crisis in 2008. (Remember that awful time? Many of our GOP legislators seem to have forgotten.) It would weaken the rights of shareholders and negatively affect regulatory powers. Boy, is it easy to lose track of everything that has happened in the past six months. While we are busy looking elsewhere, the Senate is quietly working on their version of the AHCA. Keep in mind, the White House wants Senate to vote on their version of the AHCA by the end of July. Today would be a good day to call our senators and remind them that we have not forgotten about this terrible health care bill.
