Thursday 12/14 Call To Action

Thursday 12/14 Call To Action

I don’t know about you but it feels like a Throwback Thursday since so many of these issues seem to be on repeat. Let’s continue to ride the momentum from Tuesday night and put the pressure on our Members of Congress. They are feeling the intensity all around the country.

1. Net Neutrality
Today is the day for the repeal vote on net neutrality. The vote should be delayed until they can get to the bottom of this massive fraud, but as of now it is still on. This is an attack on the integrity of our democratic process. Let your MOC know what you think about this, and do it early! If you are in Betty McCollum’s district you can thank her for speaking out about delaying the vote. Senator Klobuchar has also spoken out about the fraudulent comments.

Here’s information KMP has posted earlier.
A) Voice your opinion on the FCC comment page
*Click on the “17-108” option which is labeled “Restoring Internet Freedom”,
*Click on “Express” (vs. New Filing) on the left
*Enter name and info and in the comment section add “I strongly support net neutrality backed by Title 2 oversight of ISPs” and then can add other comments too
*Then continue to the review screen and review
*Hit “submit”
B) FCC Commissioners contact information *Note: I have tried multiple times to call but the phone numbers don’t work for me. Try the emails and Twitter handles instead.
*Ajit Pai: 202-518-7399 email: Ajit.Pai@fcc.gov Twitter: @AjitPaiFCC
*Michael O'Rielly: 301-657-9092 email: mike.o’rielly@fcc.gov Twitter @mikeofcc

2. Tax bill
In the words of Robert Redford, “It’s a dirty deal.” What Redford has to say in this article is what so many of us believe about our national treasures. This tax bill has so many terrible things hidden in it and the GOP are rushing it to the finish line. What this bill will do is worth repeating. It will remove deductions for state and local taxes, student loans, and high medical bill, it will kick 13 million Americans off health coverage, it increases the deficit by $1.5 trillion, and raise taxes on 78 million middle class family. It also targets a very wild place left on Earth, the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. Oil and gas companies have their eyes on this treasure and will begin drilling if this bill passes. Continue to pressure your MOC and tell them to kill the bill.

3. EPA chemical safety nominee
KMP posted this yesterday but we need to relish in the good when we can. Trump’s nominee for the EPA chemical safety has withdrawn his nomination after his confirmation seemed unlikely.
