Friday 5/5 Call to Action

I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve.-Isoroku Yamamoto's
That quote is attributed to the Japanese Admiral (though proof of that is fleeting) shortly after the bombing of Peal Harbor in 1941. While the passing of TrumpCare can no way be compared to the loss of life at Pearl Harbor and WWII, it speaks to the resolve of the American people. Do not underestimate the power we have to fight back against a threat to the health and safety of our communities. The sleeping giant is awake and he's angry.
Yesterday's vote to pass the AHCA in the House was a blow. ( I spent the afternoon feeling pretty low.) Now that we have all had a night to recover it is time to get back to work. Our job now is to make our representatives feel the backlash of their rash decision to vote for this terrible bill.
Check out this tweet from Ben Wikler, Washington director of @MoveOn: https://twitter.com/benwikler/status/859838674258755584 (this was already shared on TPOM but it's worth repeating)
Starting today, I want you to find a way to express your disdain over the AHCA.
*Call your reps. office and spend some time discussing the bill with the staff. Please try to be respectful but take as long as you want. Have them explain it all to you. Fill up their day with looong phone calls. Let them know how this bill will impact you, your family, and/or friends.
* Write a letter to your local paper. I know this sounds intimidating but I know you can do it. It doesn't have to be fancy or long. A letter in the local paper is a great way to share your message with many people at once. Do it! Make it a goal for the weekend.
*Participate in a protest at your representative's office. I will try to post them on TPOM. (I could use some help with Emmer and Paulsen. Please share if you know of any)
*Tweet a message to your representative about the AHCA. Use @IndivisibleMN and I will retweet it for you.
*Donate to help get these representatives out of office. Check out this https://secure.actblue.com/contrib…/page/dkendorses2018dems…
