Tuesday 5/9 Call to Action

Tuesday.
Today's Call to Action is difficult for me to write. Where do I focus? There are so many rumblings with potential.  Events that could lead to something big if only our public servants would lead.

1. #SallyYatesPatriot
If you are looking for a role model for yourself or your kids, look no further.  Former acting attorney general Sally Yates is your woman.  She is a lesson on how to be smart, articulate, level headed, and ethical even when surrounded by hot air buffoons.

Yesterday, Sally Yates testified about events that occurred, just days after Trump's election, that lead to the eventual (18 days!) termination of  Michael Flynn as National Security Adviser.

Here is a great recap from the Washington Post:  https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2017/05/08/5-things-we-learned-from-sally-yatess-testimony-on-what-the-white-house-knew-about-michael-flynn/?hpid=hp_hp-top-table-main_fix-yatestestimony-0556pm%3Ahomepage%2Fstory&utm_term=.67387e54ea60#comments

Speaking of roll models, check out Minnesota's own Sen. Al Franken doing what he has been elected to do.  Seriously, if they made jerseys with "Yates" or "Franken" printed on the back, I would probably buy one.  Watch Sen. Franken connect some dots in the Trump/Russia story here:
http://occupydemocrats.com/2017/05/08/al-franken-just-revealed-real-reason-trump-lied-mike-flynn/

Here's Klobuchar being awesome too.  Sen. Klobuchar on Flynn: It's clear he was compromised http://www.msnbc.com/hardball/watch/sen-klobuchar-on-flynn-it-s-clear-he-was-compromised-939159619815 via @msnbc

A fun call to action today would be to call Sens. Franken and Klobuchar and commend them for working hard to keep America safe.  Imagine what our country would look like if all of elected representatives did their jobs like Yates, Franken, and Klobuchar do.  Ahhh.

2.  Comey's No Homie
It appears that FBI director James Comey may not have been completely truthful during his testimony about Hillary Clinton's emails.  Comey had stated that Clinton deputy, Huma Abedin had forwarded "hundreds of thousands" of Clinton's emails to her husband's (Anthony Weiner) laptop, "some of which contain(ed) classified information."  In reality, Abedin only forwarded a small number of Clinton emails to her husband's computer.  Read more about it here:  https://www.propublica.org/article/comeys-testimony-on-huma-abedin-forwarding-emails-was-inaccurate?utm_campaign=bt_twitter&utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social

3.Local Government
Here is an announcement from state representative, Erin Maye Quade. (another great roll model if you are looking to stack your deck)  It seems that Minnesota's local legislators were busy last night setting up committee meetings for early this morning.  Why the last minute schedule change?  Perhaps they don't want the voters to know what's in the bills.  Seems pretty fishy to me.  Here's her statement:

Tonight around 10:15, Conference Committee Reports were posted and committee meetings were announced for 8:30 in the morning.
This signing reports in the dead of night and scheduling meetings with less than 24 hours notice--heck, less than 12 hours notice!--is inexcusable and leaves the public out of the process. I've posted pictures of the Conference Committee Reports, and the time they were posted, as well as the AM Committee Schedule.

I feel like this is worth a call to your state senator and representative.  Feel free to call the members of these committees too.  So naughty!

4.  You are the Heroes
Those of you who have spent time calling, writing, or protesting outside your representative's offices since the passing of the AHCA are heroes as well.  Your actions energize me and give me hope that we will prevail.
You all make me so proud!  Please post some pictures here in the comments so we can bask in your awesomeness.
