Thursday 8/9 Call to Action

Thursday 8/9

1. Devin Nunes (lots of swearing said with his name)
It’s sickening that the GOP would sacrifice our constitution to aid and abet Trump. During a fundraiser dinner last week, Rep. Nunes (R.- CA) told supporters that impeaching Rod Rosenstein would delay the confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh for SCOTUS. That’s right. Remember when the articles of impeachment were introduced a few weeks ago and Paul Ryan shrugged it off and said that it would never move forward? Well, it is, behind the scenes.
And Nunes also admits foreign collusion on stolen email is a crime. VOTE THEM OUT!
Watch TRMS cover this story here:

2. Russians have penetrated Florida election systems
For some reason all of a yelling from the back that we need election security has fallen on deaf ears. Or maybe it’s because the GOP only understands Russian.
Russian operatives have penetrated some of Florida’s election systems and could delete registered voters ahead of the November elections if the systems are not adequately protected.”
“They have already penetrated certain counties in the state and they now have free rein to move about.”

3. Trump targeting U.S. citizen children next
After holding Dreamers and immigrant families hostage, Trump now seems determined to escalate the strategy. Documents from within the administration indicate that he now has his sights on U.S. citizen children living in poverty. In leaked drafts, the administration proposes increasing the penalties on immigrant families whose U.S. citizen children receive means-tested public benefits such as Women Infants and Children (WIC), Medicaid, and Supplemental Nutritional (SNAP).
The administration is calling for immigrants whose families use these benefits to face denial of immigration status and deportation. According to a recent report by the Migration Policy Institute, these changes could affect an estimated 9.2 million U.S. citizen children’s access to vital services to which they are legally entitled.
These leaked policies demonstrate the administration’s continued commitment to policies that most deeply punish those with no choice in creation of their circumstances — the children of immigrants. Any justification about the deterrent effect of these policies is wholly illogical in view of the steep toll paid by children.”

4. VOTE!!
Let’s be honest. The only real power we have to contain Trump and his collaborators and enablers is to VOTE in the upcoming midterm elections, and we are in the final three months before the big day. Now is the time for you to get to work, getting others to vote.…/08/06/all-thats-left-is-the-vote
Every person needs to commit to helping increase voter turnout. Multiple studies have shown that personal contact with voters is the key to encouraging them to participate. NOW is the time to volunteer with a campaign to canvass. Push yourself out of your comfort zone these next three months. Share your enthusiasm for the DFL with others in Minnesota communities. You can rest easy at night knowing that you are doing your best to take back this country.
Check out these calendars for upcoming events near you.
Study after study shows that the most effective way to get people to vote is by having conversations with them in the four days before Election Day (Saturday, November 3rd–Tuesday, November 6th). Volunteer here to be part of the last big push.
Join your neighbors to stand up against Trump and his terrible administration. #StandOnEveryCorner encourages all of us to get out in our communities and speak out about what’s happening in the U.S. right now. It’s simple and easy. Grab a sign and find a participating corner near you. Better yet, create your own corner and encourage others to join you.
