Friday 4/7 Call to Action

Friday.
I don't know about you, but yesterday was a difficult day for me. It was definitely one step forward, two steps back.
As you probably already know, this happened last night:https://www.nytimes.com/…/us-said-to-weigh-military-respons…
Trump's air strikes on Syria are sure to dominate the news outlets today, railroading all the other important events that occurred. My fear is this overwhelming coverage of the bombing will encourage Trump to push forward. I cannot help but wonder if he thinks that this event was great for his "ratings".
1. Sen. McConnell goes Nuclear
By choosing to use the "nuclear option" and break the filibuster on Neil Gorsuch's appointment to the Supreme Court, Senate took one step further into the murky, partisan swamp. Although McConnell says he will not pursue the "nuclear option" on filibustering legislation, you have to wonder if it's only a matter of time.

Regardless of the outcome, Minnesota's senators did us proud. If you haven't already, take time today and call Sens. Franken and Klobuchar to thank them for standing up for us against Judge Gorsuch.
2. Representative Devin Nunes Reuses Himself
There was some good news yesterday! We found out that Rep. Nunes has stepped away from the investigation of Trump/Russia ties due to the fact that Office of Congressional Ethics (OCE) is looking into claims that Nunes leaked confidential information. I have many thoughts:
1. Remember when the House GOP voted behind closed doors to gut the OCE? Aren't you glad that didn't happen?
2. One of Nunes' biggest beefs during the trial was the leaking of confidential information to the press. Whoops!

Take time today and remind your representative that despite the bombing in Syria, we still think this investigation warrants attention. Tell your Rep that an independent investigation is still the best option.
3. Finally, Some Great News!!!!
The people asked and Senator Amy Klobuchar listened. You asked the senator to hold a town hall over break and she has agreed to host one on 4/8. How wonderful is that? Check out the Facebook page for more information: https://www.facebook.com/events/676142002581934/
The venue is not set yet so be sure to RSVP so they know what size room to get. Give Sen. Klobuchar a call and thank her. This is how democracy works!!
