Thursday 7/19 Call to Action

Thursday 7/19

1. Putin proposal on questioning U.S. Officials
We need to keep pressuring our representatives that our country and our citizens come first since the current leader is a Russian informant. If Trump thinks he can hand over Americans to keep his treasonous self safe, we take to the streets.
Putin suggested at the Helsinki summit that he would let U.S. investigators be present for questioning of 12 Russian intelligence officers charged last Friday on allegations they carried out cyber attacks to interfere in the 2016 U.S. election if Russians could do the same in America for people connected to money manager Bill Browder, a onetime investor in Russia. Browder has said he helped expose corruption in Russia.
Putin accused Browder of making campaign contributions to Trump’s election rival Hillary Clinton with money he earned in Russia on which he did not pay taxes. Putin said U.S. intelligence officers helped Browder.
On Wednesday, the Russian Prosecutor General’s office listed Americans it wants to question for “illegal activities,” including Michael McFaul, who was U.S. ambassador to Russia during the Obama administration and is now at Stanford University in California.”

Since we have not been getting specifics on what was agreed upon or talked about in the meeting between Putin and Trump we need to continue to demand a hearing from the interpreter. Although we may get an idea of what was said during Putin’s speech today.

2. Migrant families
More of what is coming out from these children and their families being detained is horrific. I’m disgusted that this is happening in our country. In what is some people’s backyard.
““The treatment of these children amounts to torture,” Schey told HuffPost, adding that the situation has become worse under the Trump administration. “We see a policy of enforced hunger, enforced dehydration and enforced sleeplessness coupled with routine insults and physical assaults.”
“This story is more than just separating children from their parents,” he told HuffPost. “The bigger picture is forced starvation and sleeplessness and terrorizing these children.””
3. Jason Lewis
Everyone in CD2 should be flooding the office of deplorable Jason Lewis with phone calls, his inbox with emails, and Twitter with tweets of disgust over his attitude towards women and his constituents. Vote. Him. Out.
4. Somalis with Temporary Protected Status
Trump is going to start targeting Somalis with Temporary Protected Status with deportation. Reach out to Governor Dayton and thank him for writing to Trump imploring him to extend the TPS. Read Governor Dayton’s letter here:
5. Don’t stop resisting the nomination of Kavanaugh for SCOTUS. No vote until after the midterm!
6. Vote Now From Home!
**Secretary of State Steve Simon is reporting a 60% increase in absentee voter applications from the last election cycle! This is awesome!!**
Minnesota is lucky. We have a great voting program that makes it easy for us to get out the vote. You are now able vote early for the Primaries that take place on August 14th. Check out this page from CD2Action that answers some FAQ’s about primary voting. https://cd2action.com/voting-in-the-primaries-101/
Don’t forget, you can vote from home in your jammies. Just sign up here (https://mnvotes.sos.state.mn.us/AB…/ABRegistrationStep1.aspx) for an absentee ballot and one will be mailed to you for free.
If Trump fires Mueller or Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, please be ready to take to the streets in protest.
