Friday 1/25 Call to Action

Friday 1/25
So much news.
Roger Stone Is in The Clinker
Former adviser and generally yucky guy, Roger Stone, was indicted by special counsel Robert Mueller and arrested in Florida just this morning. Stone was charged with seven counts, including one count of obstruction of an official proceeding, five counts of false statements, and one count of witness tampering, according to Mueller’s office. Nearly a dozen of Stone’s associates have also been summoned by Mueller to appear before a grand jury in Washington.

Shutdown
The shutdown lingers on as members of the Trump administration prove how completely out of touch they are with the real world (I’m looking at you Wilbur Ross, Larry Kudlow and Trump https://www.thefiscaltimes.com/…/Trump-Officials-Keep-Makin…).
The Senate voted on two bills yesterday to fund the government. The Democrat’s clean bill garnered more votes than Trump’s compromise bill, but neither passed. https://www.vox.com/…/government-shutdown-2019-senate-vote-…
It appears that there may be cracks showing in the GOP’s armor. Reports tell of Republican bickering behind closed doors and it looks like Mitch McConnell and Chuck Schumer may be working together to find some compromise. https://www.washingtonpost.com/…/cde0ca22-2045-11e9-8b59-0a…
If you haven’t seen it yet, check out this video of Senator Michael Bennet being awesome on the Senate floor. https://www.thedailybeast.com/democratic-sen-michael-bennet…
What can you do?

There are rumors floating that there may be a national TSA “Sick” day on January 29th as well. Technically, federal workers are not allowed to strike due to the Federal Service Labor Management Relations Act of 1978, so if this does happen, it will be a really big deal. If you are the tweeting kind, you can tweet your support by using the hashtag, #TSAsickday

From Rogan’s list: Ongoing Tweetstorm: Nancy Pelosi is running an emergency Tweetstorm using the hashtag #TrumpShutdown. Please search, choose Latest on the top navigation and retweet all. In response to this month-long partial shutdown, Senator Mark Warner has introduced the Stop STUPIDITY Act, the “Stop Shutdowns Transferring Unnecessary Pain and Inflicting Damage in the Coming Years Act”, a bill designed to keep all parts of the federal government running in the event on another government shutdown, with the exception of the legislative and executive branches. I am sure it won’t pass to become law, but let’s give Sen. Warner some credit for a good idea and an awesome title. https://www.washingtonpost.com/…/2bafc150-1e82-11e9-8e21-59…
Right-Wingers Committed Every 2018 Extremist Murder In US
The Anti-Defamation League released their annual report on extremist killings in the United States. What they have found is that right-wing extremist movements have committed every single extremist-related murder here in 2018. The report states that 50 people lost their lives, (42 of those were with firearms), because of the extremists’ actions. That makes me so mad! Does is make you mad? Keep in mind, this report only tracks deaths. Think of all the other crappy stuff that happened that is not in the report.

Stu Lourey wins Minnesota Senate District 11 DFL primary
Stu Lourey won the DFL primary and is now headed to the special election against GOP Jason Rarick on February 5th. The election is necessary to replace MN Senate Senator Tony Lourey (Stu’s dad), who was chosen by Governor Walz as Human Services commissioner. Stu Lourey has worked as an aide to Sens. Al Franken and Tina Smith and he comes from a family of public servants. His grandmother was former Senator Beck Lourey.
