Well, I’ll be a monkey’s uncle! Today is a good day. I am going to sip my coffee and revel in it a bit.
Last night three Republican senators, Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, and John McCain joined the Democrats and voted no on the “skinny repeal" of the ACA, preventing it from passing and squashing Majority Leader McConnell’s attempt to undo President Obama’s legacy. Today is a very good day.

I know a lot of attention is on Sen. McCain today for his impassioned speech last Tuesday and his bill ending vote last night. Please, let’s not forget the heroines in the room. Sens. Collins and Murkowski have remained strong despite tremendous pressure from their peers, the media and Trump.

While you are at it, let’s take a moment to thank our fantastic senators from Minnesota. Sens. Klobuchar and Franken have been steadfast in their efforts to protect the ACA.

John McCain received a standing ovation when he returned to Senate shortly after surgery to remove a blood clot in his brain and a brain cancer diagnosis. Let us not forget that there is another warrior on the Senate floor. Senator Mazie Hirono is recovering from a second surgery for stage 4 kidney cancer. She made a moving speech last night.
