Tueaday, 7/11 Call to Action

Tuesday. Happy Tuesday everyone!
1. Obamacare marketplaces just had their most profitable first quarter ever
Here’s some information to use when you call your senators and representative today. https://www.washingtonpost.com/…/obamacare-marketplaces-j…/…
It appears the Senate wants to vote on the BCRA sometime next week (Tuesday?). This would be a good time to encourage Senators Klobuchar and Franken to stall with amendments during the “vote-a-rama” that is expected to happen before the final vote.
Are you perplexed by the legislative process? Here’s a little overview: file:///C:/Users/pete0/Downloads/LegislativeProcess101_2017-03-07_v1.pdf
2. Defense Spending
The House will be voting this week on HR2810, the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) which authorized $700 billion (!) for defense spending. Instead of cutting Medicaid and safety nets for the poor to balance the budget, perhaps a little of the defense kitty could be used. Here is the bill: https://www.congress.gov/…/115th-congr…/house-bill/2810/text
Here is an overview from Countable: https://www.countable.us/bills/hr2810-115-engle-act
It’s a long shot, but if you are passionate about budget spending, it doesn’t hurt to call your representative about this bill.
3. Donate!
Are you just so tired of calling your member of congress and senators and you are looking for a change? How about donating some money to a political campaign? The great news is, you get the money back! You can get a refund on your donations (up to $50/single, $100/married couple). Check it out here: http://www.revenue.state.mn.us/…/Refund_for_Political_Contr…
Who will you donate to? The political campaign for 2018 is warming up. There are opportunities to get out and meet candidates all over Minnesota. Check out the “Out and About” section for more details.
If you are looking to elicit change by connecting with other Minnesotans there are also a number of those types of events as well. Get out! Do it! The effort you make will make a difference. Let’s welcome disillusioned voters back into the fold. Instead of being constantly on the defensive of Trump's crazy agenda, let's offer voters a some humane, rational options.
This just in:  The DNC is investing in grassroots organizations.  Perhaps they are impressed by what we have accomplished?  https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/powerpost/wp/2017/07/10/dnc-invests-earlier-in-state-parties-voter-persuasion/?utm_term=.7919f9fe47a9

I could use some help with events in your districts, especially Emmer and Paulsen. Let me know if you have a good one and I will add it to the list.

Arthur Brooks says the problem with politics isn't opposing views. It's the way we speak to each other.
