Monday 4/9 Call to Action

The Senate re-opens today (Monday) and the House re-opens tomorrow (Tuesday) after two weeks of recess.

What's on deck?

1. On Trump's announcement that he would pull troops out of Syria "very soon," and possibly without adhering to a timeline, Syrian president Bashar al-Assad may have again used chemical weapons against his own people.  One way to help is to give a bit of money to aid groups.

2. There is some evidence the US is worsening the war in Yemen.  The Senate will soon vote on Bernie Sanders' bill to stop US intervention.  Read more here.

3. If you haven't called senators to oppose Koch-network-supported Mike Pompeo's nomination to the role of Secretary of State, and you oppose torture, consider doing so.  You can also call about
- He would help Trump take us closer to war with Iran.
- He could make the Trump-made crisis with North Korea worse.
- He doesn’t believe in climate change.
- He is an Islamophobe.
- He supports torture.

4. Former Best Buy CEO Brad Anderson and Best Buy founder Richard Schulze donated to the anti-Islam group Secure America Now.  As of yesterday, Anderson had stepped down from the Mayo Clinic Board of Directors.
