Tuesday 4/10 Call to Action

Tuesday
1. Legislators Back in Action
Minnesota’s Congress is back in session. Check out Watch Your Reps MN for a detailed list of what’s going on at the Capitol. https://mailchi.mp/…/watchyourrepsmn-action-alert-for-week-…
Indivisible Minnesota Local is also a great resource for keeping track of local government issues. http://indivisibleminnesotalocal.org/
US Congress also gets back in business this week. Here’s a link to the House voting schedule: https://www.majorityleader.gov/weekly-schedule/And the Senate: https://www.senate.gov/
Countable is a great website to keep track of important legislation. https://www.countable.us/ Also, GovTrack. https://www.govtrack.us/
2. Neonicotinoid pesticide use is decimating our country’s pollinator and bird populations. Do you like to eat food? If you answered yes, you should support healthy populations of birds, bees and other pollinators. Studies have shown that pollinating animals affect 35% of the world’s food crop production!

Or here: https://www.bna.com/agrochemical-giants-downplay-n57982088…/
The EPA is holding an open comment period until April 21st on the use of neonicotinoid pesticides. Please take some time to comment and ask for stricter guidelines for the use of these pesticides. https://www.regulations.gov/document…
At home, you can pledge to only plant neonicotinoid free plants. While your at it, why not plant a pollinator friendly oasis in your yard?
Here are some stores that ban or limit the use of neonics in their plants. https://foe.org/nursery-retailer-commitments/
If you are a true adventurer, check out the Friends School plant sale next month in St. Paul. http://www.friendsschoolplantsale.com/
Let the Blue Thumb program help you plant a rain garden or shoreline stabilization. http://www.blue-thumb.org/# If you join the program, they pay you to plant!
Give your members of Congress a call and tell them that you want clean waters and a healthy ecosystem in Minnesota.
3. EPA Chief, Scott Pruitt Need to Go!
Ethics violations against Scott Pruitt are piling up. During his short tenure as head of the EPA, Pruitt has given huge raises to his coworkers (some of which didn’t even bother to show up to work!), cost taxpayers millions of dollars in extra security and fancy travel, and trampled on regulations that protect our planet. He is a bad hombre! It is time for Pruitt to step down from his wrecking ball and leave the EPA.
Minnesota’s own, Senator Tina Smith, has demanded that Pruitt step down from his position. Let’s join her in that fight. Read more here: https://www.dailykos.com/…/-MN-Sen-Tina-Smith-D-Mounts-Pres…
Give Sen. Smith a call and thank her for her leadership. While you are on the phone, call your other members of Congress and ask them to follow suit. You can also contact Representative Trey Gowdy and other members of the House Oversight Committee and tell them it’s time for Pruitt to testify about his actions.
