Friday 10/26 Call to Action

Wednesday
Boy oh boy, so much is happening in the news. Keep your focus on helping our DFL candidates get elected.
Let’s revisit Keith Ellison’s campaign. It is important that we support him for Attorney General. Let’s take a closer look at to why.
Doug Wardlow is BAD news.
Wardlow wrote an extreme right wing blog while he was clerking for the Minnesota Supreme Court. His posts were partisan Republican and even trashed Democratic candidates who were running for office. This is an ethical violation of court procedure. No partisan writing or public pronouncements are allowed. Learn more about it here: https://mnpoliticalroundtable.com/…/doug-warlow-attorney-g…/ Or here: http://www.citypages.com/…/doug-wardlow-is-this-y…/498444002
Wardlow has taken $24,000 from leaders of Globe University, a for-profit college barred from Minnesota for defrauding students. This is a sign that he will side with corporate interests if he becomes Attorney General. https://www.twincities.com/…/attorney-general-candidate-cr…/
The Trump Administration wants the Supreme Court to allow businesses to discriminate against workers based on gender identity. If this happens, we need Minnesota’s government to be able to protect vulnerable Minnesotans. Please remember that Doug Wardlow used to work for the anti-LGBTQ hate group Alliance Defending Freedom and he argued for the same thing that Trump is pushing right now. https://news.bloomberglaw.com/…/justice-department-says-tra…
You have seen all the voter turmoil that is happening right now in Georgia, Texas, Kansas, and North Dakota. Remember, in 2012, the conservatives tried to amend the Minnesota constitution to create a strict voter ID law. Thankfully, Minnesotans rejected it because it targeted people of color and would exclude some of our neighbors from voting. In 2012, Doug Wardlow was a Minnesota House member. He was one of the biggest champions of the voter ID amendment. He said, "You're not born with the innate right to vote."
Oh, heck no, Doug Wardlow! http://m.startribune.com/march-21-house-approves-placin…/…/…
If elected, Keith Ellison pledged that he will keep up current AG Lori Swanson’s fight to lower the cost of insulin for Minnesotans. Doug Wardlow? Not so much. http://www.startribune.com/keith-ellison-says-he-backs-l…/…/
Remember, Keith Ellison has been a very popular U. S. Congressman for MN05. He worked hard for his constituents and did good work. If he is not elected to AG, the consequences could be dire.
Want to meet with Rep. Ellison? You can do so today at 11:30 in St. Paul. Learn more here: https://www.facebook.com/events/574365659665324/
Use your social media to let others know what a bad choice Doug Wardlow would be. Talk to your friends and neighbors about it too. Encourage them all to vote for Ellison.
Call me on your cellphone
This was mentioned yesterday, and I am not sure why it’s not getting more attention. As throngs of MAGA’s shout “Lock her up!, Lock her up!” because Hillary Clinton used a public email server, reports have surfaced that Trump likes to talk to everyone on his personal, unsecured cellphone. China is listening to Trump talk on his unsecured cellphone and they are using what they learn to influence trade talks. Seriously, this is just nuts. Lock HIM up. Take some time to make a stink about this with your members of Congress or on social media.

National Parks
Our National Parks are falling into disrepair. If you have ever been to a National Park, this should make your heart ache. Now Trump and Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke are making it more difficult for citizens to voice their opinions about the state of our parks. I guarantee you, nothing is going to improve unless we elect better leaders. Ugh.

Inflation hits 6-year high, wiping out wage gains for the average American
The 2.9 percent inflation for the 12-month period ending in June is a sign of a growing economy, but it's also a painful development for workers, whose tepid wage gains have failed to keep pace with the rising prices. The cost of food, shelter and gas have all risen significantly in the past year. Gas skyrocketed more than 24 percent, rent for a primary residence jumped 3.6 percent and meals at restaurants and cafeterias rose 2.8 percent. Prices have risen roughly at the same rate as wages, erasing any gains workers may have hoped to realize via bigger paychecks.

Oh yeah, and pipe bombs are being mailed through the US Postal Service. https://www.washingtonpost.com/…/408d499c-d893-11e8-8384-bc…
