Monday October 15 Call to Action

A couple quick bullets, then Get Out the Vote:

"The White House is actively considering plans that could again separate parents and children at the U.S.-Mexico border"

Bannon behind census question change:
"Ross said he hadn’t spoken with anyone at the White House — but the new emails show that, in fact, he had. Specifically, he spoke with Stephen K. Bannon, the former adviser to the president who was one of the more outspoken anti-immigration members of the president’s early team."

1. If you didn't get to it last week, comment to stop rules from taking effect limiting protest in Washington D.C.

There are less than 300 comments and the deadline for commenting on the anti-protest rules Trump and Secretary of Interior Ryan Zinke have proposed is this MONDAY, OCTOBER 15; these rules would impose steep fees and costs on demonstrators as well as placing onerous restrictions on all demonstrations in Washington, D.C that use parkland controlled by the National Park Service---that includes the National Mall, Lafayette Park, the White House Sidewalk, Lincoln Memorial, the Ellipse, Freedom Plaza, and the sidewalks and parkland along Pennsylvania Avenue, including the sidewalk in front of the Trump Hotel.

Now Take Action!

In general, we've gotta get out the vote.  We've adopted every single voter  from VoteFwd in MN02, but there are other states we can work on.  https://votefwd.org/district/

Focus on the state level!

Work for the DFL or another organization.

The Secretary of State’s website has all the information you need to get your vote on. You can apply for an absentee ballot, figure out where to vote and even get a sample ballot so you can do your research ahead of time. https://www.sos.state.mn.us/elections-voting/
Candidates cannot win without help from us. Commit today to doing your part.
Each candidate on the November ballot has a website where you can sign up to volunteer. Every person can do at least one thing per week to help these candidates win.

Snail Mail Your Way to Victory!
Check out Vote Forward. This program helps you send letters to voters in Minnesota’s Congressional District 2 MN-02 (Jason Lewis) and encourages them to get out and vote. Another hot option is pro-Russia Dana Rorhabacher's CA-48 district in California. https://votefwd.org/
Text Your Way to Victory!
Many of us may feel overworked, over scheduled, and under-slept, but have the desire to get out the vote for the November midterms. We can join MoveOn’s texting team and transform the tiny bits of time in our week into progressive action in key jurisdictions across the country.https://front.moveon.org/join-moveon-text-team/

This And That
Study after study shows that the most effective way to get people to vote is by having conversations with them in the four days before Election Day (Saturday, November 3rd–Tuesday, November 6th). Volunteer here to be part of the last big push. https://thelastweekend.org/?source=MN02
Sister District Action Network did a study on the impact of postcards on voter registration and released the results showing positive results: https://mailchi.mp/sisterdistrict/dark-money-fireside-chat-and-critical-insights-265125
