A Visit from Trump
Trump was in Rochester last night for a rally in the same building that the DFL held its state convention in June. I purposely did not watch the event, but I know my elusive congressman, Jason Lewis was in attendance happy to double down on the president. There are so many tight races here in Minnesota and the GOP is hoping that this visit from Trump will fire up Republicans to get out and vote. Some reports are saying that the contentious fight over Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination to the Supreme Court, and Trumps hateful words against Dr. Christine Blasey Ford are engaging Republicans before the midterm elections. I am not saying that to take the wind out of your sails; I want you to use that information to motivate yourself to get out and help Democrats win in November. Yesterday, in response to Trump’s visit to Minnesota, hundreds of volunteers canvassed for first congressional district candidate, Dan Feehan. This is how we will win people.

Kavanaugh Confirmation
Time is running out to state your opposition against Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation to the Supreme Court. A procedural vote is scheduled for today at 10:30 AM Eastern time. If that vote goes though, a final vote will happen on Saturday. If all Democrats vote no, an additional two Republicans will also have to vote against Kavanaugh to keep him from a lifetime appointment. Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia is the only remaining Democrat who hasn’t stated publicly how he will vote. Yesterday, Heidi Heitkamp from North Dakota bravely came forward and stated she would vote no for Kavanaugh, further jeopardizing her already touch-and-go campaign. Republicans who are still potentially on the fence include Senators Jeff Flake, Lisa Murkowski, and Susan Collins.

Take some time today to thank Senator Heitkamp for her bravery. If you are able, donate to her reelection campaign. https://heidifornorthdakota.com/
Remember, before allegations of sexual assault, there was evidence Kavanaugh lied about using stolen emails in connection with judicial confirmation proceedings he was involved in. Somehow, it didn't catch public attention. Senator Leahy lays it out in this thread & it's disqualifying. Check it out here: https://twitter.com/SenatorLeahy/status/1047610550535049217

National healthcare advocate Ady Barkan, who has ALS, has an interesting approach to courting Sen. Collins (R-ME) vote on Kavanaugh. He is soliciting donations to go to her opponent in her 2020 re-election bid should she vote for Kavanaugh. https://theintercept.com/…/brett-kavanaugh-susan-collins-a…/ Over $100,000 has been raised so far.
