Wednesday 10/24 Call to Action

Today through November 6th, it’s all hands on deck to get Democrats to the polls. After Trump won the presidential election in 2016, we all managed to find each other and form coalitions with the sole purpose of resisting the hateful Trump/GOP agenda and finding better representation. Well, the good candidates are out there and ready to help us. We need to help them by getting them elected. This is it. It’s the final play in the game.
Get Out The Vote
Here are some news stories to talk about when you are encouraging Minnesotans to vote.
Strangely enough, after years of trashing the Affordable Care Act, Americans are discovering that having healthcare that covers their pre-existing conditions is pretty nice. Public opinions on Obamacare have gone way up. Republicans know this too and the same people who have voted over and over again to trash the ACA are now claiming that they want to protect Americans with pre-existing conditions. So many bold faced lies.…/election-2018-health-care-…/index.html
Some Republican candidates, including our neighbor, Scott Walker, are making political ads claiming that they have always advocated for covering pre-existing conditions. Watch Rachel Maddow and then publicly call them out.

Chaos in the Trump Administration
The U.S. ambassador to Mexico stepped down from her position earlier this year and has written an op-ed for The New York Times which details the chaos that is occurring at the White House. It’s as bad as we have imagined. Many important ambassadorships remain vacant as well. Leaders from other countries are perplexed by what is happening here in the United States. We are perplexed too, leaders.…/former-ambassador-relieved-no-longer…
Combine this with the fact that Russian president, Vladmir Putin is now declaring the end of the United States as a world superpower. National Security Advisor, John Bolton who was there at the time said nothing about that. He also said that Russia meddling in our elections is really no big deal.…/putin-trumpets-end-of-us-world-powe…&…/john-bolton-says-russia-meddling-in-…
Secretary of State Steve Simon is Great!
Let’s spend some time on social media today boosting SOS Steve Simon. Kudos to him for making it so easy to vote in Minnesota! Secretary Simon has a new plan called the Freedom to Vote Agenda. Here’s what’s in the plan:
1) automatic voter registration
2) preregistering 16-year-olds
3) true early voting
4) voting rights restoration
Let's reelect Steve Simon and get it done!…/10/Simon-Freedom-to-Vote-Agenda.…
We need to keep Steve Simon in his position. We do not want to become like Kansas, where there SOS Kris Kobach (remember his from Trump’s voter fraud squad?) has made it more difficult for voters to reach the polls. Don’t let me forget to mention that Kobach is also running for Governor.

Get to Work!
Campaigns are combining forces in a big push to Get Out The Vote. Minnesota’s DFL is coordinating door knocking and phone banking events throughout Minnesota. Sign up here for as many times as you can handle. After midterms, when you look back and wonder if you were part of the solution, what you do in these next few weeks will be a big part of your answer. Do it! Volunteer.
Coffee & Canvass Conversations: OFA-MN is hosting a "Coffee and Canvass Conversations" meeting, where we'll be discussing best practices for having effective conversations with voters—whether on the phones, at the doors, or with friends and family members. Check it out the Saturday, then get your butt out there and talk to voters.
Study after study shows that the most effective way to get people to vote is by having conversations with them in the four days before Election Day (Saturday, November 3rd–Tuesday, November 6th). Volunteer here to be part of the last big push.

Who says Democrats don’t have policies? Here are great graphics on Democratic positions to read and share. Let’s spread the word! If we are on twitter, we can also retweet this thread here…/…/105201430304442777
The Secretary of State’s website has all the information you need to get your vote on. You can figure out where to vote and even get a sample ballot so you can do your research ahead of time.
Fun Fact: Even though online registration is closed, Minnesota voters can register in person when they vote, now through November 6th. Please bring a valid ID, a bill that states your address, or a registered voter to vouch for you. Vote! Vote! Vote!
Candidates cannot win without help from us. Commit today to doing your part.
Each candidate on the November ballot has a website where you can sign up to volunteer. Every person can do at least one thing per week to help these candidates win.
