Wednesday 10/10 Call to Action

Wednesday
Nikki Haley
UN Ambassador Nikki Haley has announced that she will resign her position. Weeks before the midterm elections is a very unusual time to resign. It has set off a storm of predictions as to why she has chosen to do so. Haley spent time during the announcement congratulating herself for a job well done. She stated that now that Trump is president, the United States is respected again. Never mind the crowd of diplomats that laughed at Trump during his speech to the UN last month.

I personally will always remember the time that a pair of Russian comedians tricked Haley into talking about the fictional island of Binomo in the South China Sea. So much winning.

The Case of Fernanda Jacqueline Davila
Fernanda Jacqueline Davila is two years old. Barely out of the baby stage, probably still in diapers. Yet, the US government thinks that she is old enough to come before the bench in a federal immigration courtroom to determine her fate: deportation, reunification with her family, or asylum. Little Fernanda was taken from her grandmother at the southern border last July. That’s three months that this sweet toddler has been away from her family. When you are two years old, three months is an eternity. The fact that the court is trying to question a toddler is so absurd and heartbreaking. This child should be singing nursery rhymes and taking naps, not testifying in a courtroom.
This is us now I guess. This is the new face of the United State of America. What are you going to do to put a stop to it? I can assure you, the only thing that will work is to vote all these terrible complicit leaders out of the House and Senate this November. Then we need to do it again in 2020.

Reading personal stories of those who have been traumatized by family separation is important to ensure that we do not become desensitized to the Trump administration's cruel immigration policies. Let's take the time to read about Adayanci PĂ©rez, who has been reunited with her family, but who continues to exhibit symptoms of post-traumatic stress: https://www.univision.com/…/nightmares-and-selective-amnesi…
