Remember, the big topics to keep pushing include, DACA, CHIP, sensible gun control, funding for Puerto Rico, and the GOP’s tax plan (among other things). Pick a few that are important to you and share that with your member of Congress. You don’t have to go alone, let Indivisible be your guide:

1. Our Planet
Because anything Obama did must be undone, Trump (by means of EPA’s Scott Pruitt) is taking steps to repeal the Clean Power Plan (CPP), a policy meant to curb greenhouse gasses from power plants. The reason? It hurts coal powered plants. Plants that are powered by coal create about 40% of our energy and 70% of carbon dioxide emissions. Carbon dioxide is responsible for much of the global temperature increase the Earth is experiencing. The goal of the CPP (which was created in 2015) is to cut emissions from power plants 32% by 2030.

Pruitt is also calling on Congress to remove tax credit incentives for wind and solar power.
What the Trump administration is doing is awful and backwards thinking. The great news is that it may be difficult for Pruitt to change the course of green energy. Green energy jobs are booming in Minnesota. Our governor, Mark Dayton has vowed to have 50% of Minnesota’s energy come from renewable sources by 2030 and Minnesota is on track to meet that goal.

Pruitt’s repeal will require a public comment period and several environmental groups plan on challenging it in court. This will all take time.
Give your members of Congress a call and remind them that green energy is our future and they should support it in any way possible. Call Governor Dayton and thank him for his commitment to clean energy.
